NU MEN'S BASKETBALL: Shields Scores 35 In Win Over Mavs
Shavon Shields scored a career-high 35 points, 21 of them in the first half, to lead slow-starting Nebraska past Nebraska-Omaha 80-67 in men's basketball on Tuesday night.  Nebraska (3-1) trailed by as many as 16 early but opened up a double digit lead late in the first half.  Omaha (2-2, 0-0 Summit) cut the Nebraska lead to 47-43 on C.J. Carter's layup with 13:15 left.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Bluejays Race Past Eastern Illinois
Reserve Geoffrey Groselle scored a career-high 15 points, and No. 23 Creighton beat Eastern Illinois 75-53 in the Emerald Coast Classic on Tuesday night.  The Bluejays celebrated coach Greg McDermott's 50th birthday with a victory in their first game as a ranked team this season.  The 7-foot Groselle made his first five shots and finished 7 of 8 from the field.

Aquinas Catholic Class C2 Football Champs
Lane Napier ran for 119 yards and three touchdowns and Aquinas Catholic rushed for 308 of its 322 yards while defeating turnover-plagued Hartington Cedar Catholic 40-6 in the Class C2 championship game Tuesday.   Aquinas (12-1) won the state title for the third time in four years. The Monarchs from David City got out to a 40-0 lead on Napier's TD runs of 1, 6 and 19 yards.

NU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cady Leads Huskers Over Utes
Emily Cady had 25 points with nine rebounds, Rachel Theriot added 20 points with six assists, and No. 16 Nebraska rolled past Utah 66-43 on Sunday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.  The Cornhuskers (4-0) shot 42.2 percent from the field, committed just seven turnovers and had a 28-14 advantage in the paint. Theriot also had six rebounds and four of Nebraska's 11 steals.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Zierden Leads Creighton In Win Over NC Central
Isaiah Zierden scored 20 points, including 8 of 9 from the line, to lead Creighton over North Carolina Central 65-45 on Sunday.  Zierden was 4 of 7 from the floor - all 3-point attempts - to go along with terrific foul shooting.

Cornhuskers Looking To Enhance Their Bowl Position
For the second straight year, Nebraska will go into its last regular-season game playing for nothing more than a best possible bowl bid.  The Cornhuskers (8-3, 4-3) were eliminated from the Big Ten West race with Saturday's 28-24 loss to Minnesota.

Kuhlkin Leads NU Bowlers To Another Tourney Win
The No.1-rated Nebraska bowling team won their third-straight tournament of the 2014-15 season at the Track Kat Klash in Houston Sunday afternoon. On the final day of the three-day-competition, NU beat rival Arkansas State 4-3 in the best-of-seven Baker Format match to win the 18-team tournament, which was hosted by defending NCAA Champion Sam Houston State.

Martin Breaks Rifle Record, But Huskers Fall Short At Alaska-Fairbanks
Rachel Martin smashed the Nebraska Rifle program’s previous individual air rifle record on Sunday when the sophomore fired a 597 against Alaska-Fairbanks.  As a team though, the Huskers were not able to defeat the Nanooks, losing by a score of 4,657-4,700.

Husker Football and Basketball Teams Lose, Win in Volleyball
The Husker football team lost to Minnesota 28-24 at Memorial Stadium on Senior Day. Later on Saturday night the Husker basketball team was upset by Rhode Island 66-62. But the Husker volleyball team shut out Michigan 3-0 on the same night.

Abdullah A Finalist Again For Two More Football Awards
Nebraska senior I-back Ameer Abdullah was named a finalist for two national college football awards on Thursday morning. The record-setting running back was named as one of five finalists for the Paul Hornung Award and is one of four finalists for the Pop Warner College Football Award.

2015 Inductees Announced For Lincoln Southeast Athletic Hall of Fame
Lincoln Southeast has announced their 2015 class into the school's athletic hall of fame.   Among the nine athletes going in are former football standouts Ty Goode and Ty Gifford.  The 1969 State Championship boys gymnastics team and the 1976 state champion girls golf team are also being inducted along with former coach Dan Wolf.

HUSKER WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Laudermill Leads NU Over WSU
Tear'a Laudermill scored 20 points on Wednesday night, and No. 16 Nebraska used a big second-half run to pull away from Washington State 82-61.  A few minutes into the second half, Nebraska (3-0) started a 19-2 run, turning a two-point lead into a 59-40 advantage on Allie Havers' layup with 10:35 left.

MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Bluejays Upset No. 18 Sooners
Zach Hanson caught Devin Brooks' air ball along the baseline and put it in the basket for the go-ahead points in the last minute, and Creighton came back from an 18-point deficit to upset No. 18 Oklahoma 65-63 on Wednesday night at CenturyLink Center Omaha.  The Bluejays (3-0) used a 24-4 run to get back in the game after a dismal first-half shooting performance.

HUSKER FOOTBALL: Abdullah One of Ten Up For Walker Award
Nebraska senior I-back Ameer Abdullah has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2014 Doak Walker Award. The award is given annually to the nation’s top running back.  This marks the second straight season Abdullah has been a semifinalist for the award. The 5-9, 200-pound Abdullah has produced a standout senior campaign in 2014.
