2013 Fantasy Football: Rookie Running Backs

Last season we watched the "Muscle Hamster" (Doug Martin TB),  Alfred Morris (Was)  and  Trent Richardson (Cle) run Wild on the NFL. Now it's time for the next crop of Rookie running backs to step up and carry your fantasy football team. Here is my rank for the 2013 fantasy football running back class.

1.) Le'Veon Bell Pittsburg Steelers (MSU 2nd Round) -  Bell sat out the Steelers pre-season opener vs the Giants bc of knee soreness but  the Michigan State product should get the lions share of carries this season. The main question about Bell's fantasy value revolves around his ability to show the Steelers he is a 3 down back. LaRod Stephens-Howling (last played in Arizona) is the main hurdle infront of him. OC Todd Hailey loves his small gadget backs, but I expect Le"Veon Bell to have the best season among Rookie Fantasy Backs. Prediction: 300 carries 1,200 yards 12 TD's 25 receptions 160 yards 0 tds

2.) Eddie Lacy Green Bay Packers (Alabama 2nd Round) - Everyone I have spoken to that covers the Green Bay Packers swear up and down that Eddie Lacy will be a big time player. What will be interesting to watch is if the Packers give him enough attempts between the 20's, I have little doubt he will score plenty of touchdowns in the redzone. Prediction: 225 carries 877 yards 12 touchdowns 18 catches 133 yards 1 TD

3.) Montee Ball Denver Broncos (Wisconsin 2nd Round) - I loved this pick by the Denver Broncos, Ball was the most "NFL" ready back in this class. The only reason he isn't higher on this list is because of one man. Ronnie Hillman. Hillman would be the starter if he was better in pass pro, that is the opening that Montee Ball could take advantage of. I expect this to be a time share in the back field with Ball getting 55-60% of the carries. Prediction: 220 carries 924 yards 7 touchdowns 25 catches 220 yards 1 touchdown

4.) Gio Bernard Cincinnati Bengals (NC 2nd Round) - BenJarvus Green-Ellis will keep Bernard from having a big fantasy season. He is a talented back but only take him as a flyer at the end of the draft at this point. I fully expect this to be a Platoon at the running back position for the Bengals. Prediction: 130 carries 600 yards 5 tds 20 catches 220 yards 0 tds

Other rookie running backs to consider: Knile Davis KC - primary backup to Jamaal Charles could be a valuable waiver pick up at some point if Charles goes down with injury. John Franklin GB - talented back that could be big between the 20's for the Packers, PPR league could have some value. Zac Stacy STL - look who he is battling for playing time. lol
